Mc Bean Lagoon was declared a protected area in 1995. When UNESCO declared the Biosphere Reserve Seaflower in the Archipelago, in the year 2000, the park became part of this; but it has been part of the Archipelago Marine Protected Areas since 2004.

According to Iron Hill, the McBean Manglar, the McBean Lagoon, and the Cangrejo and The Three Brothers. In its marina area stands out the barrier of corals, which with 32 km of width is the second most extensive of the Caribbean and of the sea different shades, for what is known as the ‘Sea of ​​the Seven Colors’. If you can go hiking along the hill, sail on a kayak through the lagoon, visit the cayos that hack from the park, swim around the corals.
